While many people in US of A received a mail from Google which had an E-comic drawn by none other than Scott McCloud (creator of the classic Understanding Comics), I was twisting and turning in my sleep till I couldn't take it any longer. So I called my IIT topper friend who works for an online Bank dept. in the big apple. "Did you get the mail?" I asked. That's all I had to do, to set his mind clattering like a toy that is wound by a key. So, Kanishka darted with his full description of what is CHROME and how it is going to be different in its functionality. He told me the book points to www.google.com/chrome from where I could download the latest browser from.

Kanishka's excitement could not be contained. I could feel the wave in his voice and the bounce in his step while he endlessly spoke of the new browser. His favoutire feature, as repeatedly and emphatically mentioned, was the fact that it was an open source browser which allows him to fiddle around it to his will. Chrome has a "multi-process design" which means "a bit more memory up front" but over time also "less memory bloat." When web pages or plug-ins do use a lot of memory, you can spot them in Chrome's task manager, "placing blame where blame belongs." It gives you a chance to "grab the thief by his collar" Kanishka roared.

Well from what I could make of it. Google Chrome for a layman will be a good internet browser which functions well, loads pages faster, eats less virtual memory by allocating memory only where it is needed. It has a simple design, lets you have multiple tabs, has an auto-completion feature on the address bar, enables you to search directly from the address bar and automatically updates your homepage with the 9 websites you visit most often. The last feature being one of my personal favorites, for those who like to do dirty stuff on the WWW, Google has provided with an option of an incognito window where there is no log maintained by the browser of your activities.
